I see that Chicken Counting season has started early this year.

Re: Is this progress?
Are we making progress? Given we’ve spent the previous two seasons playing shit football and battling relegation I’d say yes we’re making progress. The footballs much better to watch and we’re in no danger of going down this season.

But we have a squad of aging mediocre players who are well over paid relative to their contribution on the pitch whether that be through injury, ability or attitude.

My hope is we ship a load out in the summer, replace the likes of Adrian, Reid, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Obiang, Carroll & Hernandez with players the manager wants and I’m confident we’ll make even more strides next season.

For me progress is top 6, so no not yet. Give me a shout if we ever make it. Last night was utterly shameful.

Re: Is this progress?
One thing I can say is that this game has completely settled what is our “first” team.

With Arnie getting an improved contract is their any point in Carol starting for us again? Hernandez has to go, even if we subsidies his salary on loan. You just cant have a guy on that much money do fuck all for you. It’s not good.

I feel like it would be a good idea to start preparing for the sale of a lot of players and play youth for the remainder of the year if you need to rotate or backup players.

We are safe technically. So preparing for the next season is what we should be doing. We have to decide if we want to push for Europe or not. But if it’s decided it’s too far for us, players like Obiang, Hernandez etc.. cant be playing for us again over youth that has a future with us.

Weve got pancakes. We didnt have them before.

That’s progress

Oh an the announcement of the Arnie extension just after getting battered by lowly opposition was another good reminder of how we haven’t moved on. Absolute joke decision

Re: Is this progress?
The influence that the drinking club of Carroll and friends has over the club still looms large.

Andy Carroll thinking he can get away with sulking because Marko gets paid more than him is beyond daft. His pals following his lead are daft.

The toxic dregs of Allardyce need to be culled and quickly.

Re: Is this progress?
I think the reality is despite us having a better manager now that the very average squad we have created due to piss poor management over the last decade means without major investment this is it. I can see Pellegrini fucking off by next Christmas if he doesn’t get major backing.

Re: Is this progress?
No it's not progress especially with this apparently fabulous new stadium with the extra money through the turnstiles!

Yes West Ham have lost to lowly opposition in the Cups before but the difference was we had people at the Club that actually cared that we got beat.

IMO the only one who felt that tonight bar the fans was Noble.

The only way we progress are to get people (board and players and possibly manager) who want to actually be here.

I'd take Dev or Alvin as manager with bunch of youngsters who want to be here battling relegation over this bunch of overpaid crap.

Re: Is this progress?
This is it. This is as good as it gets. Its the reality of life supporting West Ham. You hope and expect more but in the end they contrive to lose against some lowly team that's performing badly 4-2. FOUR TWO. That's what we get from highly paid professionals. That's how good our professionals who get paid outrageous wages are. Thats what you should expect.

Re: Is this progress?
All this tonight proved this and that...I understand the sentiment of what you are saying but can not agree.

Having watched every game for the last 10 years and a lot more preceding it, I think I know when we are on to a good thing.

In my mind, other than Lyall (stories rather than memories unfortunately) Pellegrini is the best manager we have had since I was first actually aware of attending a game as a 7year old in 1990.

How many of the players who let us down today did he bring in?

1) Javier Hernandez - the unfit, unprofessional, narcissistic Soljskaer of the modern era, we are his China. Better than Davor Suker. Worse than Ilan. I will celebrate his departure.

2) Andy Carroll - impossible to feel sorry for a lazy, injury prone, poor excuse for a footballer who has stolen a living fit for a king while actively ignoring years of advice from those around him. The fact he has no gym in his ridiculous pink mansion really does speak volumes...I bet he has a bar though.

He now can't run, can't jump, can't time his runs, can't pass and has no pos itional sense. In short, if he played for Wimbledon today, we would have won.

I am now bored talking about players stealing a living and will just give honourable mentions: Well done Masuaku and Ogbonna.

Re: Is this progress?
I agree.

Full backs and central midfield are priorities. But AC has to go too. EVen if he was fit and his younger self he does not fit the style/tactics now.

The sign of progress is the day we have the likes of Cresswell, Zab, Noble, Snoddy and Antonio as subs with better players as first choice.

Most not all of others like Carroll, Hernandez. Masuaku, Perez, Ogbonna, Reid, Sanchez even - need to be moved on.

Takashi Miike 1:21 Sun Jan 27
Re: Is this progress?
alf, I know it's not exciting but we have to start at the back in the summer and buy two proper full backs that can actually defend and read a game. whether that means getting rid of fredericks and massuaku, so be it. ogbonna also needs replacing and maybe josh pask needs to be one of the back up CBs. there's no alternative to declan so that's another position where we need cover, with obiang finally going. lastly, the forwards and I'll hold my hands up and admit Alex V was correct in them all having to go, and younger hungrier options brought in. the saving on those four salaries should be close to £400k a week and be more than enough to revamp the squad

Agree. AC's departure will be a signal of progression now.

We are missing the general. Our defence is all over the place without him.

But yes, we are progressing, but can still be fucking awful.

I thought the 8-10m was too good to turn down, if carroll gets a new deal then questions really need to be asked about what's going on

Never ever laugh at other teams before its your turn.

At least Tottenham lost to a prem team.

We are still very average.
